Donald R. Metz, D.O.
Dr. Metz graduated from the Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa in May 1974. After serving an internship at Dallas Osteopathic Hospital in Dallas, Texas, he began his career in family practice at Deer Park Family Clinic in July 1975. Dr. Metz serves as Chairman of the Deer Park Board of Health and Medical Director for the Deer Park Independent School District. He received his Bachelor of Science from Lamar University in May 1974.
Andrew S. Metz, D.O.
Dr. Metz began his practice with Deer Park Family Clinic, P.A. in July 2007. Dr. Andrew Metz graduated from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas in May 2004. He completed his residency in Family Practice at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a board-certified Family Practice Physician. He received his Bachelor of Science from Texas A & M University in December 1999.
Vivian Rodriguez MSN, FNP-C
Mrs. Rodriguez grew up in Pearland, Texas and currently resides in Manvel with her husband and children. She began her nursing career 14 years ago at Ben Taub General Hospital working with medical surgical patients. Throughout her career as a nurse she worked in pediatrics, geriatrics, and lastly in women’s health as a labor and delivery nurse. Her education started when she obtained her Certification in Vocational Nursing from Alvin community College, Alvin, TX in May 2006. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Alvin Community college, Alvin, TX in December 2010. Mrs. Rodriguez then obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University, Hyden, KY in October 2019 with a strong focus in family medicine. She began at Deer Park Family Clinic in February, 2020
Melanie Johnson, NP-C
Melanie Johnson is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) who has worked at Deer Park Family Clinic, P.A. since 2019. She is also a Registered Nurse with over 8 years of acute care nursing experience in a variety of settings including Level 1 Trauma Center, Medical ICU, PACU and Urgent Care. Melanie graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston with a Master of Science in Nursing and University of Texas Medical Branch with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Before pursuing a career in nursing, Melanie graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in Anthropology and a minor in Health. The University of Houston holds a special place in Melanie’s heart because that is where she met her husband, and they now have 2 wonderful sons.
Xue “Lucy” Dong, MSN, FNP-C, RN
Lucy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Toronto in June 2010. She further obtained her Master of Science in Nursing Degree from University of Texas at Health Science Center in Houston in May 2019. Having 9 years of experience as a registered nurse, Lucy joined Deer Park Family Clinic in July 2019 as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Lucy grew up in Canada and shortly after college moved to Houston. During her spare time, Lucy likes to spend time with her family and children.
Cyndi Truong, MSN, FNP-C
Ms.Truong received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University in May 2014. She then received her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Family Practice from the University of Texas Health and Science Center in Houston, TX in May 2019. She currently resides in Houston, TX. She has five years of experience as a Medical Surgical nurse and began her employment as a Nurse Practitioner with Deer Park Family Clinic in February 2020.
Blia Thao, MHS, PA-C
Blia Thao has been a practicing Physician Assistant at Deer Park Family Clinic, P.A. since September 2012. She was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma prior to relocating to Houston, Texas in 2012. In her spare time she enjoys cooking and sewing. Blia received her Master of Health Science in 2011 as a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center Physician Assistant Program. She also received a Bachelors of Science in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma in 2009.
Eva Prieto, MSN, FNP-C, RN
Ms. Prieto received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus in Microbiology from the University of Texas, Austin, TX in August 2005 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, AK, in December 2012. She received her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Family Practice from the University of Texas Health and Science Center, Houston, TX in May 2019. She is a native Texan and currently resides in League City with her husband and children. She has seven years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery/Triage and began her employment as a Nurse Practitioner with Deer Park Family Clinic in July 2019.
Tracy Smithson, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Mrs. Smithson received her Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness in 2002 from Texas A&M University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2006. She has been a Certified Registered Nurse for 15 years. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing in 2020, focusing in Family Practice. Her expertise includes Family Medicine, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Adult, Gerontology, and Chronic Care. She began her career with Deer Park Family Practice in 2021 as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She grew up in Clear Lake and currently resides in League City with her husband and son.
